Barrack Hill Town Park Steering Committee organised a fun community event with a focus on engaging families across the generations to get on their bikes. Our event goal was to encourage families to join in and give them the opportunity to rediscover the joy of social cycling in a group, enjoying the great outdoors.
The event was not exclusively for families, and everyone is welcome. Our cycle is fully accessible as we have requested permission to use the accessible bikes from Spraoi agus Sport, a local community enterprise allowing children and adults with additional needs to participate.
Scouts: 8th Donegal Scouts also participated at this event. Their event will work alongside our event, on the same route, therefore it will be a coordinated effort.
Participation: Approximately 200
There was an obstacle course for younger children to use their balance bikes/ scooters at the event at the boxing club car park adjacent to the Barrack Hill.
Refreshments: Following completion of the route we served refreshments at the Barrack Hill Town Park and community gardens.
