Barrack Hill Town Park was allocated €124,000 in funding from the Town and Village Renewal Scheme to provide an outdoor covered space in the park for the whole community to use. The space will be used for learning workshops, picnics, activities in nature for locals and visitors and for hosting regular events. A covered space in the park will allow Barrack Hill to facilitate our events and activities, that have proven to be a great success in the town over the past few years. The development of such a project will not only enhance the visitor experience to the park but also to our vibrant town. It will be a great benefit to the area to encourage visitors to stay a little longer and explore the park and the town, adding to the local economy. The BHTP committee are continuously working to develop an inviting and open community space that is also an education and learning space for all for the local schools, while significantly improving biodiversity in the park and the town. We believe that connecting people and nature in this new community space will also bring many benefits from a social point of view.
